The virtual institute “Research Institute for Software and Service Ecosystems” deals with international questions in the area of Information Systems. In the first phase of the project, research was conducted in the three areas of “Digital Complementary Assets”, “Crowdsourcing and Open Innovation” as well as “Software-as-a- Service”. In order to establish joint knowledge and to develop sustainable structures, the activities in the first two years focused on research trips, the organization of international workshops and conference tracks, joint publications in leading international conferences, and proposals for external funding.
