Bilateral Coordination for the Enhancement and Development of Science, Technology and Innovation Partnerships between the European Union and New Zealand (FRIENZ)

Facilitating Research and Innovation Cooperation between Europe and New Zealand (FRIENZ) was a bilateral partnership project between the EU and New Zealand. The project specifically aimed to enhance science and technology collaborations between SMEs and researchers that were identified in the EU-NZ Science, Technology & Innovation Roadmap.

Connecting Australian-European Science and Innovation Excellence (CAESIE) was a bilateral partnership project between the EU and Australia. The project specifically aimed to enhance science and technology collaborations between SMEs and researchers making a significant contribution to addressing some of the world’s grand challenges: clean energy, healthy ageing, and sustainable cities.

CONCERT - Connecting and Coordinating European Research and Technology Development with Japan

CONCERT was a three-year ERA-NET, which aimed at enhancing S&T cooperation between Europe and Japan through a variety of measures. These included the definition of common elements in present cooperation, the identification of priorities and models for future cooperation, the implementation of a pilot joint funding activity and the development of a durable programmatic approach for joint research projects.

New INDIGO - Initiative for the Development and Integration of Indian and European Research

The ERA-NET New INDIGO aimed to reduce the fragmentation of the European Research Area with India by increasing coordination between national research programmes across the EU Members, Associated States and India. ERA-NET actions allowed Member States, Associated States and third countries to avoid overlap between their programmes. The ERA-NET's actions resulted in concrete cooperation, such as programme networking, and the mutual opening and implementation of joint programmes and activities.

KORANET - Korean Scientific Cooperation Network with the European Research Area

KORANET was a network funded by the European Commission under the 7th Research Framework Programme. The four-year-project started in January 2009; its objective was the promotion of R&D cooperation between Europe and Korea. Research and funding institutions as well as ministries from 9 European countries and Korea participated in this network.

CO-REACH - Coordination of Research between Europe and China

CO-REACH was a network of European S&T policy and funding organisations involved in promoting research co-operation between the EU and China in natural sciences, medical and life sciences, engineering sciences, social sciences and humanities. This network intended to create coherence and synergy in Europe’s S&T relations with China by promoting the co-ordination of China related policies and associated research funding programmes of individual European countries.

IncoNet CA/SC (INCO-NET Central Asia/South Caucasus)

IncoNet CA/SC was an extension to the IncoNet EECA which was established in January 2008. It served primarily to strengthen the bi-regional dialogue and the cooperation between countries of the European Research Area (ERA) and the regions of Central Asia/South Caucasus.

ACCESS4EU:NZ

This ACCESS4EU:NZ project seeked to establish a platform to increase awareness within the EU of opportunities for European researchers and organisations to participate in New Zealand’s (NZ’s) publicly-funded research and innovation programmes. The platform aimed to reduce impediments to European researchers seeking to participate in NZ’s research and innovation programmes through providing information on available opportunities and the identification of prospective partners in New Zealand.

AUS-ACCESS4EU

The AUS-ACCESS4EU project (Supporting EU Access to Australian Research and Innovation Programmes) analysed participation opportunities for European researchers in national Australian funding programmes. In addition, the project developed indicators for the reciprocity (mutual opening) of funding programmes. The International Bureau coordinated this project and was also involved in the several other work packages.
