GreenTalents – Science Forum 2019

For the past ten years, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) has been organising the renowned programme 'Green Talents - International Forum for High Potentials in Sustainable Development' in order to promote the international exchange of knowledge on sustainable development. The 25 winners will be invited to a fully funded, two-week Science Forum in Germany.

The award, which is sponsored by Minister Anja Karliczek, honors 25 young researchers from all over the world every year. The winners work in various scientific disciplines and excel in particular for their outstanding achievements in the field of sustainability.

With 837 applications submitted this year, a new level was reached. The 25 winners will be invited to a fully funded, two-week Science Forum in Germany. During this time they have the opportunity to get to know institutions and companies of the German sustainability landscape and to network with other scientists. A highlight of the trip this year will be the award ceremony by the Parliamentary State Secretary Dr. Ing. Michael Meister

Facilities visited during this year's tour through Germany include the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence, United Nations University, Germanwatch, RWTH Aachen University, Wuppertal Institute and Covestro. The winners will also have the opportunity to make individual appointments with German experts, as well as to complete a fully funded research stay of up to three months in 2020 at a German institution of their choice.

In honour of the tenth anniversary, a network conference with high ranking representatives of the Federal Ministry of Eductaion and Research (BMBF) will take place in Berlin from 23-25 October 2019. Selected alumni of the competition, this year's 25 Green Talents as well as numerous representatives of the German sustainability landscape will take place. The event will provides ample opportunity to exchange experiences, discuss possible cooperations and support further networking.
