Also participating will be a delegation of 20 delegates from selected Tunisian networks and clusters who will provide information on their fields of business, development prospects and opportunities for cooperation - including in one-on-one interviews.

Workshop objectives

The workshop is meant to stimulate the creation of application consortia for the establishment of innovation-oriented strategic partnerships between German and Tunisian networks and clusters in the field of research and development.

The reason behind this workshop is a funding announcement of the BMBF planned for the second quarter of 2019, which will support the development of German-Tunisian "bottom-up" networks and cluster partnerships.

Project funding will facilitate, inter alia, the analysis of Tunisian research and development potentials, the development of common network strategies, and the strengthening of Tunisian capacities in the areas of technology transfer and cluster / network management.

The focus is on building partnership in the following areas:

  • Biotechnology (green biotechnology, biotechnology for nutrition, industrial biotechnology, biotechnology in health care)
  • Pharmaceutical industry
  • Adjustments to climate change - environmental technologies, renewable energies, resource efficiency
  • Green Economy and Circular Economy
  • Industry 4.0 and mechatronics
  • Automotive sector
  • Textile sector

A special focus is on information and telecommunications technologies, which are considered
key technologies for all the priority areas mentioned above.

In addition, vocational qualification is seen as an important additional component of a strategic network partnership.

The "European and International Cooperation" section of the DLR Project Management Agency has been commissioned by the BMBF to organise and implement this workshop.
