Germany and India

From 2008 to 2010, Germany presented itself as a location for innovation in a campaign in India themed “India and Germany – Strategic Partners for Innovation”. The campaign focused on biotechnology, health research, production technology, energy and environmental technology and sustainability research.

During the two-year campaign “India and Germany – Strategic Partners for Innovation”, interested parties received the opportunity to establish numerous contacts with German research institutions and strong technology companies via industry-specific presentations by the German research and technology community. The Federal Ministry of Education and Research presented selected German research networks at specialised conferences, such as the Delhi Sustainable Development Summit or the BioBangalore trade fair, under the motto “Research in Germany – Land of Ideas”. In addition, numerous workshops, multiplier and partnering events were held, which were aimed at scientists at universities and research institutions as well as at research-oriented companies, multipliers and investors.

The campaign recorded noticeable successes: These included new R&D cooperations with Indian partners from science and business, third-party funds, the launch of joint degrees and the addition of third-party representations.
