Other EU initiatives

The BMBF is an important partner for the EU in the definition of future thematic priorities and is involved in various other support measures and coordination activities within the 6th and 7th Research Framework Programmes, either directly or via the International Bureau or other organizations.
  • Strategy forum for international S&T cooperation, SFIC

    International S&T activities of the Member States and the EU aim to enhance the internationalization of the European Research Area (ERA). A closer coordination of these activities will strengthen the competitiveness of Europe and will attract additional funding for Research and technology in Europe.

  • EVAL-INCO - Evaluators database for International Cooperation

  • CREST working group 'Internationalisation of R&D - Facing the Challenge of Globalisation: Approaches to a Proactive International Policy in S&T' (2007-2008)

    This working group of the EU's Scientific and Technical Research Committee (CREST) was set up in early 2007 in the frame of the open method of coordination under the German EU-Presidency. It completed its work at the end of 2008. The International Bureau of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) participated on behalf of and in close cooperation with the BMBF in the work of the working group and chaired its meetings. Representatives of the 27 EU member states and the countries associated to the EU-Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development were invited to participate in the work of the working group.
