New Generation Sensor Technologies for Unsaturated Soils and Water Technologies

The Indian and German Chairs plan a workshop in the field of a new generation of sensor technologies for unsaturated media under the Indo-German Science and Technology Centre (IGSTC).

Deutschland | 24. – 25.02.2016 Bochum

This workshop will provide a platform for bringing together scientists and industrial companies from both countries to enhance the transfer of knowledge, research and development (R&D) activities. The workshop topics cover the interests of various disciplines like geotechnical and geo-environmental engineering, soil science and agricultural science. In all these disciplines, sensor technologies play an important role. The proposed workshop will cover 3 main technical sections. The first one is the validation and verification of existing measurement techniques. The aim is to highlight limitations of existing sensor technologies and the chances for optimization of monitoring concepts. The second section is related to the need for further sensor development and new generation of sensors for application in the above mentioned disciplines. The third section will cover the optimization of measurement techniques, using different sensor combinations for specific applications and optimization of sensor array and location. The technical details related to above mentioned three sections are discussed in detail below. The contribution and technical discussion sessions of relevant research partner institutes and from industry will also be organized.
